Eric Wilson you have to be kidding me, Britney Spears?

This morning I was reading "Love and Hating Marc Jacobs" in the New York Times and I was completely taken back when I read in the article,

He has held up a mirror to the styles of the Olsen twins, Victoria Beckham, Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan in rehab, as they are displayed candidly in the pages of Us Weekly or Star, as women he views, in their imperfect ways, as modern.

Britney Spears, really? modern.

I really really don't think we would love Marc Jacobs if his collection was anyway inspired by the likes of Britney Spears.
I understand Lindsay Lohan and the Olsen but Britney Spears though!?!
