Thank heaven, therefore, for Grace Coddington. A former model who now resembles a witch somewhat, she's Vogue's creative director and comes up with the magazine's most creative spreads. In the film, she shares the spotlight with Wintour as the only staff member who's not afraid of the boss. Her sensibilities, old fashioned and inspired by art rather than commerce, offer a nice counterpoint to her colleagues milling about like headless chickens, too eager to please to take any kinds of creative risks.
