I vowed before fashion week began to attend shows of new designers or designers I never heard of. So I was beyond ecstatic that I attended Verlaine show. Vaughn Alexander the designer of Verlaine, showed a collection not for the faint of heart. With rock metal music blasting through the speakers there was nothing sweet about this collection. Softly draped tie-dye maxi dresses were the opener that transitioned to off the shoulder tops with full skirts. Then it went right back to the more to a sexy-clad draped dresses with open backs and zipper detail in a varied of solid colors. I appreciated Vaughn vision and his aesthetic that he showed for the upcoming season. There was some much white, mixing of prints on the runway and romantic collections this season it was good to attend a show that didn't jump on the bandwagon. I can't wait to see what he will do for the Fall.
