To get the Fashion Week-juices flowing I went to the DANNIJO Presentation tonight eventhough NY Fashion Week officially starts on Thursday. There are so many brands and designers that the traditionally 8 day week is not enough for everyone to showcase their collection. Anyhoos, Danielle and Jodie Snyder (sisters) the jewelry designers behind DANNIJO for Fall 2011 presented, Aboriginal. When I got the invite and read that the collection was titled Aboriginal I assumed it might had to deal with Australia. But arriving at the venue and looking at the jewelry I didn't quite get anything Australia-inspired then I realized this is fashion and a title doesn't necessarily mean anything. I just need to take the collection for what it is, a strong dosage of statement jewelry infused in a western theme setting. Besides clothing that's going to be shown this week, jewelry and accessories collections that are presented in a stylized environment is encouraging. It gives the collection more of a story then laying necklaces down on a table. Great way to start the madness New York Fashion Week!
